Return On Investment

Curb Appeal

As we head into the traditional Spring selling season, many homeowners will be beginning to think about getting their homes ready to list for sale. The key is to spend your money and time wisely; invest in projects that will likely garner the highest return when your house is sold. Getting good advice from professionals is key when exploring home remodeling projects. Experienced REALTORS® can be an excellent resource, as they know what buyers are looking for and can help you determine what changes should get you the best returns on your money. For the last 15 years Hanley Wood, LLC, the publishers of Remodeling Magazine, have been producing the Remodeling Cost Vs. Value Report in partnership with the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). This year’s report lists exterior home improvements as the top projects to consider when planning a remodel. As many REALTORS® would tell you, curb appeal is very important to potential buyers-it is the first thing they see, the first impression of your home. Items such as siding or window and door replacement are listed by the study as some of the top 10 most cost-effective projects. Do not forget that attractive landscaping and fresh paint are great simple and cost-effective ways to add curb appeal. Other worthwhile investments included upscale garage door replacement, a minor kitchen remodel, and adding an attic bedroom and bath. Click here to read more about the report’s findings.
