HPW Happenings | Turkeys for the Triangle Donates Turkeys to Area Nonprofits and Military Organizations

Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston's Turkeys for the Triangle

Our Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston real estate team joined with Butterball and the US Veterans Corp to hand out 2,500 Thanksgiving turkeys to more than 60 local charities and military organizations through our annual Turkeys for the Triangle program this week. The special birds will serve food-insecure families in and around Wake, Durham, Johnston, Orange, Alamance and Wayne Counties.

The Thanksgiving turkey distribution event, known as a “turkey toss,” took place on Wednesday and a second “turkey toss” will take place in mid-December to donate another 1,500 turkeys just in time for Christmas. Through these two turkey donation events, Turkeys for the Triangle will distribute a record 4,000 turkeys this holiday season.

In operation for more than a decade, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston’s Turkeys for the Triangle is a collective effort of our agents and staff who sell raffle tickets during the holiday season to raise money to fund the purchase of the special birds. Throughout the years, Turkeys for the Triangle has donated over 20,000 turkeys to anchor holiday meals for more than 90,000 people.

“The holidays are a time for nourishment. A time to gather with family and friends and be grateful for all that we have. It’s also a time to remember those who need our support,” said Don Walston, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston Founder and Chairman. “Our organization started the Turkeys for the Triangle program years ago to help feed our Triangle neighbors in their time of need. We’re excited to partner with Butterball to extend our turkey donation efforts and support even more people this holiday season.”

Turkeys for the Triangle partnered with Butterball again this year to significantly increase its annual turkey donation and help support more food-insecure families in our service areas. Butterball donated 1,500 turkeys, 1,000 more than previously donated in 2014, to Turkeys for the Triangle as part of its annual Thanksgiving outreach efforts.

Butterball, LLC President and CEO Kerry Doughty said, “Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and give thanks. At Butterball, we’re thankful for the ability to be an active participant in our community by donating turkeys, and we’re proud to stand with other corporate citizens that value helping those who are less fortunate by providing a holiday meal. It is our hope that everyone have a happy Thanksgiving.”
