Where are the best places for business and careers? Forbes has spoken, and the Raleigh metro is third on their list of lauded locations.

The leading news source and business magazine just released its 18th-annual Best Places for Business and Careers list, which reviewed 200 metro areas against 14 variables related to job growth, business costs, income growth, labor force education, and quality of life. Other considerations were given to cultural and recreational opportunities, highly ranked area colleges, and net migration patterns.

Our Capital City was third on the list following closely behind Denver, Colo. and Provo, Utah. Forbes reported that “business costs are 17% below the national average in the Raleigh metro and 44% of the adult population has a college degree.” The second largest city in our prospering Triangle area, Durham scored 48th on the list with a high education metric rank.

This recognition marks the 13th year in a row that the Raleigh metro has held a top three spot on this list acknowledging the ample growth and development in and around the city over the past decade and spotlighting future opportunities for businesses and residents alike. In fact, the thriving metro is well poised to continue that run as recent projections issued by the American City Business Journals indicate that it will have a “meteoric percentage increase in population growth” making it “the third-fastest growing metro in the next 25 years behind Austin, Texas, and Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida.”
