The world-famous (or at least North Carolina-famous) Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q is opening its first restaurant in the Triangle in several years! The chain will be opening a new location in North Raleigh; construction on the new restaurant is set to begin soon near Triangle Town Center, which will be the second location in Raleigh. The other is on Fayetteville Road in South Raleigh. Smithfield’s was founded in 1964 and is known for its Eastern North Carolina-style pork barbecue, fried chicken, and Brunswick stew; they have 33 locations across North Carolina.
