The Raleigh-Cary market ranks as the sixth-best job market for educated jobs when adjusted for a metro area’s size and existing workforce. A new study by The Atlantic charted the best metro areas for recent college graduates looking for work, using data from labor market data group EMSI.

The group adjusted for what they called the “local quotient”, and with its nearly 7,000 estimated 2013 job openings with median hourly earnings of $30.42, Raleigh/Cary has a location quotient of 1.19. EMSI designated anything above 1 as indicating a higher-than-expected share of the nation’s new educated jobs. Raleigh ranked one spot ahead of hotspot Austin, which has an LQ of 1.18.
