Summer Movies

NCMA Movie Night

Are you looking for some summer fun this weekend? The North Carolina Museum of Art is kicking off it’s summer movie series, a more than 20-year old tradition that this year will finally be going digital with a new state-of-the-art digital projection system. Every summer the museum shows a series of (mostly family-friendly) movies on their outdoor screen. This weekend features two highly-acclaimed films that made waves during awards’ season; Friday they will be screening Philomena starring Judy Dench and Steve Coogan, and Saturday they’ll feature Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks. The movies begin just after dark, at 9 pm through mid-August, 8:30 thereafter and the gates open 90 minutes before showtime. The summer movie series is free for Museum members and $5 for all others. You can purchase tickets in person at the Museum Box Office in East Building, by calling (919) 715-5923, or online. Click here for the museum’s policies, the full movie list and more!
